Microsoft Word: 3 "Secret" Selection Tricks Microsoft Office, and specifically, Microsoft Word, has a lot of little known shortcuts and tricks to highlight or select text you want to format or edit. These tips and shortcuts are detailed in the article, Microsoft Office: Selecting Secrets. Here are 3 more selecting tips to try in Microsoft Word: - To highlight an entire sentence, press and hold [Ctrl] and click anywhere in the sentence.
- To select an entire paragraph, triple-click anywhere in the paragraph.
- To select a vertical block of text (for sections narrower than the width of the document), hold down [Alt] and drag your mouse across and down to highlight the text area.
